Joe’s experience combined with his approach to problem solving gives him the ability to identify, analyze and provide solutions to conservation issues, and contribute to problem resolution. His work experience includes routine and complex negotiations with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
Joe’s varied work experience includes: impact studies and environmental assessments; statutory planning; policy development and implementation; ecological field studies; marine protected areas; implementation of the ecosystem approach; protected species studies and consultation; biodiversity planning; ecological risk assessment; use of ecosystem services as a tool for conservation assessment; and training and education.
As project and program manager he has overseen technical and professional staff, multi-year projects, and sub-consultants and contractors from invitation to tender through to contract award and job completion.
He is a recognized expert in current approaches to conservation science and biodiversity issues, and is an active member of professional organizations including the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management.
